Master of Laws in Medical Ethics and Law – Information Session
The Master of Laws in Medical Ethics and Law, or the LLM (MEL), is a ground-breaking cross-disciplinary Masters programme offered by the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong.
Applications for the 2021-2022 entry of the programme will close on 1 March 2021 at 12:00 noon (GMT +8).
The curriculum is designed as an integrated interdisciplinary one that addresses concerns of growing importance in the health professions, law and business, and it spans important topics such as consent and conﬁdentiality, healthcare digitalization and artiﬁcial intelligence, research best practices, ethics at the end of life and nuances of medical negligence. Offered by the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong with teaching support from the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, the programme provides an interdisciplinary perspective to pertinent issues in medical ethics and law. The curriculum offers lawyers, social scientists, policymakers and healthcare professionals a guide to the fundamental ethical, legal and social issues inﬂuencing the delivery of healthcare. The programme is offered on a full-time (1-year) or part-time (2-year) basis so that professionals can carry out their studies while maintaining career commitments. It is accredited by the Law Society of Hong Kong for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) purposes.
This programme is open to candidates with a degree in law, or in medicine. Suitable candidates with relevant experience or professional qualiﬁcations holding a degree in a discipline other than law or medicine will also be considered.
